To make an informed decision, you need to know all the options, and we’re here to help. Here’s a breakdown of what should be considered before selecting a dental plan: [**Plan Type**](https://www.hr360.com/Employee-Benefits/Health-Insurance/Dental-Plans.aspx) While there are several types of dental plans available, one of the most common types is a *Preferred Provider Organization (PPO).* A PPO dental plan is a network of dentists who agree to offer services at a reduced rate. Members have the option to go outside of the network, but the cost of services is higher. VBA dental plans, which are offered through our partnership with TruAssure Insurance company, provide members access to one of the largest PPO networks in the country. With our dental plans, members can receive services through the DenteMax dental network. **Available Providers** If you select a dental plan that requires members to stay within a specific network, be sure that there are numerous dentists convenient to members. Members like options, and it’s important that it won’t be a hassle for members to use their benefits because of network restrictions. **What’s Covered** Understanding what’s covered under your dental plan is vital. Dental care is grouped into three [areas of coverage](http://www.nadp.org/Dental_Benefits_Basics/Dental_BB_3.aspx) for payment purposes. Those areas of coverage are: - Preventative Care - Basic Procedures - Major Procedures Services that are covered under preventative, basic and major vary based on the dental plan. In some cases, orthodontics is not included in coverage, but can be added to the plan. **Cost** Last, but not least, keep in mind what the cost of the plan will be to your organization and/or your employees. VBA dental plans offer both employer paid/voluntary dental plans.
